Default Gambit Modeling problem

If I want to decompose a model into number of rectangles or any other geometric shape, should I use the "split volume" with connected option or should I also use bi-directional along with it. What is the actual difference?

u can refer the modelling guide of GAMBIT, Section 2.5.7. It is clearly explained there.
