Hi users, is it possible to use two different reaction mechanisms in one simulation? I am modeling a 2d gasification reactor where gas phase reactions take place (GRI3.0 mechanism) as well as some reactions over a catalyst (here I am using a 3 reaction global kinetic used for steam methane reforming, I have written a UDF for this part). Up to now I only included the steam reforming part, but I want to extend the model for the rest of the reactor. Any suggestion are welcome! Claud

Yes You can define multiple different reaction mechanisms in a single simulation. Once you specify the reactions you can also specify the different reaction mechanisms by selecting the reactions that would be a part of this mechanism. Fluent help actually shows you how to do this.

Hi SV, So I can load the gri3.0 mechanism and than just add the 3 reactions for steam methane reforming to it? After all, i just specify the 2 reaction mechanisms? Claud

Yes...Once you have all the species specified for the reactions, define the reactions and then in the next stage specify the reactions mechanisms..based on which reactions participate in which mechanism. if you have access to fluent user manual..refer to the chemical reactions index for better understanding.
