Default LES of confined flows - floating point error

Hi,

I am running LES of unsteady flow in a sudden expansion chamber with the parallel version on a dual core windows machine. I had run the simulation on a coarser grid earlier (8000 time steps). However, while running the asme on a finer mesh the program stops around 5500 time steps (almost 2/3rd) with the message

'floating point error - divide by zero'. This is strange as all the inputs were the same as the previous case.

could it be a limitation of the system??

Hoping to hear from u guys soon...

Instead of starting the simulation again from beginning..try interpolating the results of the coarse mesh to the fine mesh and then start the simulation. I had the same problem and this helped.

thanks for the suggestion. could you tell me how to interpolate the results from the coarser mesh to the finer mesh.

thanks in advance

First write out the data fields in the fluid zone that you want to interpolate; file/interpolate This will open a Gui and show you the fluid zones you have and the data fields that can be written... Once you write the data...read the finer mesh and then read the data set you wrote by using the same file/interpolate...then read and interpolate command. If you have access to fluent user manual ..the procedure is clearly outlined in section 33.1.40
