temperature gradient for use in surface monitor

Hi, I'm trying to get temperature gradient for use in surface monitor, as there aren't any temperature derivative in the surface monitor panel. And then I'll calculate the integral (by choosing intergral in the 'report type' of the 'Define surface monitor' panel) of the temperature gradient over the domain at each time step. So after getting the result, I'll be able to plot the result as a function of time.

I have thought about doing it the other way, that is using C_T_G(c,t) in a UDF, However, I don't know which Define macro to use and the way to save the result, so that I'll be able to plot the result as a function of time.

Thank you in advance for your help! Catherine

Hi Catherine,
you can use DEFINE_ON_DEMAND and user define memory.
for example:
C_UDMI(c,t,0) = C_T_G(c,t);
you should active user define memory from:
define - > user defined - > memory
then you can use your udf.
