properties of fluids
Hi,
I am working on microchannel heat exchanger which consist of two channels and seperating wall .When I use same fluid in both channels and want to specifying the properties of one fluid the other fluid will take the same properties of first fluid.My question is how can I specify diffrent properties for same fluids flowing in two channels . looking for answer Thanks alot |

I think, U have to define the two channels as seperate zones. For example zone1(for channel 1) and zone2(for channel 2. U have to do this while generating ur mesh. Then u can define different properties for the same fluid flowing in different channels. regards |

In Gambit u can find a menu called Zones(on the top, right hand side of the Gambit window under Operation menu). here u can specify the zone type for a volume or a face or a group of volumes and / or faces. Regards, Madhukar |

But I specified the zones in this way since I specify fluid to channel 1(volume 1) and solid to the wall (volume2) and fluid to channel 3 (volume 3) but when readuing this case in fluent I can't to specify difrrent properties to the same fluid in diffrent channels since when I change the properties of one fluid then the properties of second fluid automatically changed

try this: in Fluent go to materials panel then for the first volume give a name(for ex: fluid_1) then define the properties of that fluid(like density, viscosity etc) with desired values. then press "change/create" botton. For the second volume give a name(fluid_2) then follow the same procedure as above. Regards, Madhukar |

As I understand from the discussion, in this heat exchanger problem, I feel you should specify the properties (e.g. viscosity, Cp, conductivity etc...) as the function of temperature. You need to relevant corelations if you want to use corelations other than what Fluent provides. This way you can work with the same material.
