Gambit ACIS Error 1015

Hello all,

I'm trying to import a step file created by SolidWorks into Gambit. But the import operation fails due to "ERROR: ACIS error 1015: Access violation". Could anyone here tell me what it means and what to do?

Thank you, Ken

Re: Gambit ACIS Error 1015

From SolidWorks/UG, use parasolid files (*.x_t) then in gambit use the direct read option to prevent translation (under File>Import>CAD). This makes use of the parasolid kernel built on top of Gambit's ACIS kernel so it will result in c_* named entities as a result (same operations as per v_* and f_* for virtual and faceted entities resp).

Thank you first. But do you mean I have to export a ".x_t" file from SolidWorks and then import it into Gambit as a CAD file?

Re: Gambit ACIS Error 1015

Yes write out *.x_t file then read into Gambit using Import>CAD to retain CAD definition or File>Import>Parasolid to invoke translation to ACIS (Gambit native kernel).
