On FC 6 x86_64 AMD Dual Core Opteron machine fluent gave the following error:
Loading "/usr/local/Fluent.Inc/fluent6.3.26/lib/flprim.dmp.1119-64" Done. /usr/local/Fluent.Inc/fluent6.3.26/bin/fluent: line 4820: 18185 Segmentation fault $NO_RUN $EXE_CMD $CX_FLAGS The fluent process could not be started. Any help from the forum will be appreciated. Thanks. vof_grid. |

I'm not sure of the situation w.r.t. 6.3.26, but there is a know issue with 6.2.16 and Bash 3.1 (which is what you have in FC6). The simple solution is download the sources for Bash 3, and compile and install the binaries in a directory where you can get hold of them. Then you change the #sh of the first line of the fluent script in Fluent's bin directory to use your Bash 3.0. More at http://en.opensuse.org/Running_FLUENT_6.2_on_SuSE_10.1.

I found two solution for the same problem:
1. restart the computer with no internet conection and use a command like: fluent 2ddp -driver x11 2.In case you use Fluent parallel: a. start the machine with no net conection b. create a fictive network conection with a static IP etc ... c. use a command like: fluent 2ddp -driver x11 -t2 I hope this could help. |

I have tried this option too with fluent 6.2 (but instead with the patch provided by fluent) and get the libdevtools.so error.
However I have had no issues with FC 6/F 7 on a x86 platform. |

Fedora 6 or 7 x86_64 and Fluent 6.3.26 (32-bit): 1. Modify file ".../Fluent.Inc/bin/fluent_arch" line 32:
replace "ia64) FLUENT_ARCH=lnia64;;" to "x86_64) FLUENT_ARCH=lnx86;;" 2. Run Fluent with command: shell# fluent -driver x11 <version 2d or 3d>" 3. Gambit 2.3.16 (32-bit)... if you see the message gambit launch "file libXp.so.6 not found, make symbolic link to other existing file: ln -s /usr/lib/libXpm.so.4.11.0 /usr/lib/libXp.so.6 ln -s /usr/lib64/libXpm.so.4.11.0 /usr/lib64/libXp.so.6 ln -s /usr/lib/libXpm.so.4.11.0 /usr/lib/libXp.so.6 ln -s /usr/lib64/libXpm.so.4.11.0 /usr/lib64/libXp.so.6 In fact you need only one of these files, but I'm sorry)) - not remember. Good luck, my e-mail ivan(at)tt(dot)ssau(dot)ru |
