gambit: how to produce hanging notes
Hi!
I want to create a 3D grid, that is very fine in a certain area, and very coarse around the area. Now, It would be helpful, to have hex cells that allow hanging notes - that means, on one cell of the coarse grid, a number of fine cells could be attached. It that possible in gambit??? Ralf |
Re: gambit: how to produce hanging notes
I don't think so - if I am wrong, I hope someone will correct me. I have also wanted to generate a grid with hanging nodes, but Gambit doesn't even allow me to load a grid with hanging nodes.

Hi!
Thanks for your answer... What grid generator have you used for the grid with hanging notes? What meshing programms will allow that kind of grid?? Any Idea? Ralf |
Re: gambit: how to produce hanging notes
I didn't actually use a grid generator - I had a mesh that Fluent had refined, and I wanted to modify it. I ended up going in a different direction.

Re: gambit: how to produce hanging notes
The only way to do this is to decompose into regions in Gambit and export meshes separately then merge cell domains together (in TGrid or Fluent) and create non conformal interfaces in the solver.
