Hello,
I am not understanding this error message I keep getting whilst trying to import a mesh from gambit into Fluent 6 3D: Warning: Inappropriate zone type (Interior) for one sided z face zone 4 changing to wall It goes on to say...Cannot change sideIn to Interior because there is only one adjacent cell thread. I was trying to keep 20 faces on my geometry as Interior zone types (although I'm still not completely sure what Interior means, my supervisor suggested it). Can anyone help please? Thanks |

well interior means the face edges are not considered as wall for the fluid motion during the simulation.. so while importing the gambit model make sure what all faces are in the fluid domain and assign them as interior.. hope this helps

Santosh,
I have done as you said, i.e. assigned my faces as Fluid in the continuum types and as Interior but I keep getting the error message, Continuum or boundary condition specified on entity face *** is invalid for Fluent 6 and Continuum entity *** does not contain any valid entity and is not written *** refers to my own designations for faces etc What have I done wrong please? |

are u simulating it in 2D plane or 3D... if in 2d then u must consider the face but if 3D then see the apporiprate biundary conditions for the edge of the face... i may be wrong but i think u have the prob there,,, bye

You need to have fluid domains on both sides of the face to specify it as "interior" in Fluent. You cannot specify your faces as fluid in continuum types, like you said you did. Once you specify a face as interior, fluent "ignores" its presence...go through the Fluent manual for more details.
