symmetry....
Hi,
I simulate only half of my model, to reduce the grid needed. I use symmetry BC on the cutting axis (z). My questions are: 1. in reference value, should I set the area as the area of the whole model (A) or only the area that I simulate (0.5 A)? 2. does fluent calculate the force for the whole model or only what I simulate (0.5 model) ? 3. is there any tutorial about this that I can refer to? Thanks a bunch :) |
Re: symmetry....
only what I simulate (0.5 model)

Re: symmetry....
thank you joe
really appreciate your answer |
Re: symmetry....
Hi
1) Is your model 2 or 3D? 2) Since a symmetry BC is nothing but a wall with a "slip" condition on it (as aopposed to a wall BC where the "no-slip" condition is applied on the wall), I presume that Fluent caculates the force for that specific domain. 3) The tutorial about flow in a tube bundle (heat exchanger) might help. Re: symmetry....
Hi,
my model is 3D. if I model only half. I need to multiply the result by 2? so, the assumption is that both part (0.5 + 0.5 model) generate the same lift, drag and moment? thanks for the reference |
Re: symmetry....
i can't find the tutorial in fluent documentation. what is the tutorial number?
or can you give me a link. thank you |
