hi, I have worked on a system of rotating cylinder geometry i.e. rotor of centrifugal contactor. To start with, I have taken a very simple system of rotating cylinder partially filled wid liquid and partly opening at the top to atmosphere using VOF model on it. I got some data file of the interface profile on it . nOw I want to use this data on a rotating cylinder but wid continuous flow into it at the bottom inlet and out of it at the top. cylinder size is same as the previous one where i dont hav inlet and outlet. only difference is addition of an inlet and outlet to the new geometry. so now since in new geometry i want to start wid a profile which is already obtained with simulations of previous cylinder, can i run that data file on this new cylinder wid inlet and outlet ,i.e. on this new mesh file.

if this is not teh appropriate way suggest me a right way how to deal wid it.

Regards Garima

I never tryed it with VOF but only with one phase flows. If the geometry is the same and only the mesh has changed then try to write out the data with :

file/interpolate/write Data/all Cell Zones/all Fields/write

Then open the new case and import with :

file/interpolate/read and Interpolate/ all Cell Zones /Read

that should work, hope that helps

Sir,

my problem doesnt involves different mesh instead it involves a geometry with addition of new inlet and outlet to the previous geometry . the size of the axisymmetric cylinder is same as previous one but now it has an inlet and outlet which the previous cylider doesnt had . i want to use the previous profile of fluid obtained(i.e. parabolic profile) as the initial guess value for this new geometry which is different from the previous one in only way that it has inlet and outlet. so i am asking can i use the previous data file on this new mesh file .

Regards, Garima
