hello;i am working on combustion modeling (with fluent)of MSW incinération in order to limit NOx emissions in an incinerator composed of two combustion chambers uising natural gaz as fuel .
my question is: where and how to enter the composition of the MSW in fluent. PLEASE HELP ME WITH ADVICES AND DOCUMENTATION TO VALIDATE MY WORK. |

There are many approaches, depending on what you want to do. Will you use the PDF setup for fuel? Species transport with NOx precursors? Fluent NOx model?
You probably know that the composition of RDF may be quite different from facility to facility. In order to do a good job of NOx prediction (+/- 10%) you will have to do several months of research, in which you will have plenty of time to experiment with different set-ups. If you just want to do it for the sake of doing it (which is fine), you could just set the volatile gases from the RDF as a generic gas, CxHyOz, with the appropriate heat of formation. The fixed carbon (say 25% of RDF) would be handled separately. Of course, this won't help you on fuel NOx, which is most of the NOx. The groups at Sheffield College in England and Columbia University in the US seem to have done the most on this topic. Good Luck. |

HI can anyone help how to measure residence time in Fluent.
i have designed a an incinerator with two chambers. I have performed a cold flow simulation for the whole incinerator to understand the flow of flue gases. But I don't know how to calculate the residence time in the secondary chamber. Also can anyone help me how should I go along doing the simulation of the incinerator. It is a poultry incinerator. please help |
