Default VOF modelling Open Channel flow

I try to use VOF to modele a two phase flow (air ,water)of intorrent ditch. Air is my primary phase.I'm not clear about how to initilize the channel.

The ditch initially empty (filled with air),and i have to patch the domain of water ,then patch the velocity again, since the velocity of water can't be initilized .But at the time of t=0,there is no water in the channel,so i can't patch any domain.

I tried to initilize the channel filled with water, but i think this initilize condition doesn't accrod with the fact.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance. rodi

You can increase the channel domain to patch the water domaoin at t=o.
