Modeling thin perforated plates as porous media
I am looking for literature about modeling thin perforated plates as porous media. (Please other scripts as the fluent documentation)
I made experiments and CFD-models with perforated plates in filter cone. In the CFD-Model I used porous media for the thin perforated plates (3mm thickness). There the gas distribution is important for me.
At the first test I used one perforated plate in the cone. The comparison of the pressure drop and the gas distribution between the data of the experiment and the CFD-Model was very good. I made these tests with different free areas of the perforated plate (30% free area, 40%, 50% and 60%) and the comparisons were always satisfying.
At the second test I used two perforated plates in the cone. I apply the Inertial Resistant data from the first tests and used them for the second tests with the two perforated plates. Then the comparison of the gas distribution between the experiment and the CFD-Model didn't agree. The pressure drop was ok.
My result is that you cannot use the same experimental evaluated data for the Inertial Resistance by different position of the perforated plate in the cone.
Hoping someone can help me or have information about literature for this case of porous media.
