Scaling a single edge

Hello, I am trying to model a problem where the outlet of the domain is 60 microns in diameter. I am having difficulty meshing it. Is there a way to scale a single edge of the Domain i.e. I will create a larger outlet, mesh it. Then I will export it to Fluent, where I will scale this one edge to the required dimension, keeping other boundaries to same scale. Is this possible in fluent. Please let me know.
Thank you, Szndilya Garimella |

Hi Szndilya Can you give some more information? Your problem is 2D/3D? You are having problem meshing only near the outlet? You can divide you domain into smaller sub-domains, model and mesh them seperatly(you can scaleup the required subdomain). You can then read the subdomain containing the outlet into the software, scale it down and then read the other subdomains. Finally you will have to connect the sub-domains by defining interfaces.

Hi
If I understand your question correctly, the outlet is too small when compared to the rest of the domain, to the extent that you can't see or mesh it. If this is the case, in Gambit, press Ctrl+left mouse button and square this area to enlarge it. You can also elongate this part by pressing Ctrl+ middle mouse button and square the area. Perform this as much as you want till you are able to handle it. I hope this helps. Regards AAA |
