Hi, I am a graduate student and doing the study of turbulent boundary layer thickness calculation at the trailing edge of 3D wing or blades...I found out there is an troublesome issue --the transition in the airfoil flow, if without consideration of transition, the result could not be correct(it was validated in 2D problems).. I suppose it is the limitation of FLUENT, and I tried several ways to solve the problem, such as split the laminar and turbulent zones(not tractable in 3D)... however, my goal is 3D turbulent boundary layer calculation, so it looks there is only one way to choose--making a transition model and impose the model into FLUENT by UDF, is that possible? If possible, what kind of transition model should I choose, Michel empirical model(it looks the simplest transition model)?or is ther any other way to solve it? I really feel headache about this problem for a long time, I hope somebody could give me some help, any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, Regards Bob

Certain Fluent turbulence models do incorporate a transition submodel e.g. kw-sst.

Thanks for your reply, Joe, I think the transtion submodel of k-w sst is not effective, the results are almost the same whatever I used it not...
