how to validate without having experimental data
can u please tell me how to validate a complex problem using Fluent.We dont have experimental data for this.Is there any way to do this????

You can use your past expereince in the similar kind of problem or analytically to get some overall idea

another possibility would be, to validate your simulation model with a simple case. e.g. if you have a complex combustion process within your problem, simulate a simple combustion case, for that expermiental data exist and compare them. Or if you have flow around a complex geometry, simulate flow around a simple geometry, for that expermental data exist (e.g. you have flow around a fancy shaped car, simulate flow around a "normal" shaped car to compare - you will find a lot of data for that). If simulated results fit the simple cases, there is a good chance, that complex problem fits as well. If basic fluid dynamically and physically effects for the simple cases can be simualtes correctly (heat transfer, reattachement, chemical reaction,...) they will be correctly calculated for the complex cases as well (assuming the same numerical conditions like yplus, turb. model,...). You can validate your data with the work of others in the literature. Another way is to compare your results with empirical data. It is either experimental, numerical (CFD) or empirical. And sometimes it is common sense. |
