how to create a large eddie

Hello. Im trying to see how a large eddie is broken in smaller ones by a turbulence grid. But i dont know how to obtain a large eddie to broke it. Im solving the problem in 2D

can someone help me to do this?

Thank you very much!

Jonathan

Vortex shedding behind a square cylinder at high Re.

Joe, thanks but could you explain it a bit more please? a square cilinder is just a square?

Hi

To my knowledge, RANS models such as k-e will only give you the average of the kinetic energy and dissipation. The only way to creat and analyze large eddies is by using the LES and the DES models (and of course the DNS). Those models can only be used in 3D and they have to be unsteady.

Try building a 3D model with an obstacle (i.e. a block) to creat the eddies.

Good luck
