help: the volume mesh has highly skewed elements
 
using GAMBIT to generate the mesh but the mesh volume mesh has highly skewed elements (Equisize skew >0.97). when input the mesh into FLUENT to do simulations, will the highly skewed mesh affect the simulations? Is there any way to make the local mesh better in GAMBIT? I tried to smooth it, but seems worse.

Hello , the same thing happened wiz me while tryin to mesh smtg . I think , I think you have two choices : 1- increase the size of the elements that u r meshing . or 2- enter EDIT , then press on default and change the skeweness to be larger than 0.97 so that you can avoid this problem .. I guess if you successed in simulating the file on fluent , yeah it will be affected . hope that i helped u

To reduce the amount of highly skewed elements you need to decrease the size of the elements in the skewed region. Depending on your geometry you could implement a size function in the highly skewed region in which the size of the elements increases further away from the skewed region. Otherwise you could decompose the geometry further so that your model can accomodate the element types but again this is dependant on your specific geometry

I would look for a reason for the mesh getting skewed.

Do you have a tube close to a wall you will for sure get highly skewed mesh, unless you make sure that there is not a sharp eged where the tube meet the wall, and there is a million other way that give you sharp egedes and it is har work to awoid them but you have to do it to be sure that you problem converge and get physical.
