Hello,

I just want to ask about the modeling of propane/air incomplete combustion using Fluent?

Hello,

Your question is not specific. what is it that you want to know...whether it is possible or not? Throw more light on your question.

Dear James,

Sorry for the not clear question that I asked. Ok, I just want to simulate the non-premixed combustion of propane/air. In my simulation, I want to monitor of CO gas output due to incomplete combustion. For your information, I am mechanical engineering student. So, can you help me what reactions should I include and what the best turbulent-interaction chemistry model should I used?

Thank you very much for your reply

Hi,

I know that the propane two steps reaction is included in fluent and and so you have to check whether CO is produced as an intermediate in that reaction. If not, then you will have to hook say a CHEMKIN OR a GRI mechanism in order to be able to have CO in the elementary reactions.

Once you have that question answered, then you can move on. As an alternative, maybe you can first do a single step global reaction and then later on, you can try to modify the kinetics to include more detailed chemistry that will account for the generation of CO radicals.

I hope that this helps.

James
