Default Why do residuals increase

For most problems, whenever the solver settings are changed, the residuals would shoot up but rapidly decrease before stabilizing at convergence. What does it mean if the rapid decrease is followed by a very very slow increase with respect to the number of iterations?

shouldn't divergence be rapid wrt iterations?

no can be gradual esp if low urf's
