Anyone has any idea about this error message in Discrete Phase Model simulation "Can't figure which cell particle is going to -- ABORT"?

Is there any well explained tutorial about setting of simulation parameters for a discrete phase model? I think it is a little difficult to find indication and make some choice about that...

That happened with me once, however, I don't remember exactly what I did but I can help you if you tell me what parameters are setting in DPM panel and injections panel.

It'd be great, thank you in advance. My simulation concerns a spray in an annular air flow through an axisymmetric 2D model. I use 5 continuous phase iterations per DPM iteration (but I have tried up to 20 to solve this problem...), 10000 max numbers of steps and 5 as lenght factor in the Tracking Parameters menu. Injections are made by means of several single sources (I proved by a file but under Linux OS it doesn't work, on the contrary of Win OS: i don't know the reason...). No stochastic model is active at this moment. Is it sufficient for any suggestion?

The worst problem in my opinion is the difficulty to find any useful indication/guidelines about parameter choice/influence on simulation... Few tutorials with a standard setting and no explanations about parameters choice/calculation... I think that a help about it would be also more useful, if anyone knows the answers...

particle aborted means that the solver couldnt resolve the track of that particle. Try to display that abort particle and see where it stopped. It is probably due to your mesh so you can try to refine it and see. hope it help

Thank you, I followed your suggestion and discovered a wide recirculation region that prevents particles from reaching the outlet, so solver aborts their tracking when the "max number of steps" is reached. Probably, if I increase the "max number of steps" I'll get an "incomplete" condition for them, but phisically nothing really different from it. Sounds like the initial particle position is not inside the domain.

Another thing is if you are getting ABORT messages for a small fraction of number of particles then ignore it. It won't affect results much.
