I am doing 2D simulation on the annular reegion two rotating cylinder using axisymmetric swirl flow. For this I need periodic boundary on the annular face. But I donot know how to define the periodic boundraies.Kindly help me. Thnak you verymuch.

Hi Jaysree,

For a periodic boundary without any pressure drop, there is only one input you need to consider: whether the geometry is rotationally or translationally periodic.

That is correct. But how to define the boundary in gambit. though I know partially the procedure to make the boundary periodic in gambit, but donot have any idea for putting which boundary to be periodic. For example if I have a rotating face connected by 4 edges, which edge will be periodic. Kindly help me. Thank you very much for ur help

Dear Friend,

To apply a "periodic" boundary condition for use with a FLUENT solver, you must first create a mesh hard link between the pair of edges (2-D) or faces (3-D) to which the boundary condition is to apply. In addition, you must assign a PERIODIC boundary type to both edges (or faces) in the pair, and both edges (or faces) must constitute members of a single entity set.
