time step

Hi,

I am confused about the terminology time step used in fluent. Let's say the time step is 0.1. What does it mean? i am also not certain about the max iteration per time step.

Re: time step

Let's say your time step is 0.1s. Next you can choose the number of time step, for instance 10. It means that you will have your flow every 0.1s. But at the end you will have the result of your flow after 1s. I don't know if it is clear what i am saying. Fluent calculates your flow every 0.1s. Next for max iteration per time step, is the number of iteration that you ask to fluent to do to have converged. I advice you to put a big number as 10000, like that your are sure that you calculation is converged. If your calculation converged before the 10000iterations, fluent goes to the other time step
