Velocity value at a Cross-Section???

Hi, I'm modeling an open channel. I'm interested in finding the variation in velocity value along the depth at a cross-section.. How can i do it??

Regards

In FLUENT, in the Surface menu, select line option. You can create a line by defining the co-ordinate points. Then using the plot menu you can plot any quantity along that line.

I prefer exporting the data to a postprocessor (Tecplot in my case) to visualize the data.

Hope this helps!

Unfortunately Tecplot is not a freeware. If you are in academia you might find out if your university owns licences. There might other similar CFD postprocessing softwares too.

I've obtained Tecplot 360.. I have read its getting started tutorial.. but failed to understand.. All i need to do is to create XY Plots and an animation showing fluid flowing in an open channel.. Any helP???

I agree Tecplot is difficult to learn initially but in my experience is a good postprocessing software for CFD.

You can google "Tecplot demos" etc. and you will definitely find some help on how to use this software.
