Is UDF the only way to handle particle melting?

Dear friends,

I'm trying to simulate a single particle's melting process. But the solidificaltion/melting model in FLUENT(v6.3)is not fit in the pariticle melting case. Did some one know is there any other methods could be used to simulate particle melting process except UDF code? I appreciate your help very much.

Regards

Thanks sudhir,

In my problem, a particle is injected into a furnace with hot air blowed in. The velocity of the particle is equal to the velocity of hot air. So, the particle is heated by the hot air to it's melting temperature and continue to melt until all of this particle is melted.

I want to know that can FLUENT simulate this particle melting process?

hello marq.

multiphase flow is possible in soldification.for multiphase flow we can use VOF model....i dont know wehether we can give two velocity as u mention....plz confirm it with others... im sure that u can use only VOF flow for soldificaton model...
