Hello, I have been assigned to do CFD modelling for burners. That could include detailed reaction mechanisms. Can anyone explain or recommend which package I should get. CFX or FLUENT? and why.. Thank you, John

If you are really beginner I would recommend CFX. Anyway, Fluent will look like the same soon

Hi Bohis, Thanks for your reply. Currently I am using COMSOL and I used to use FIDAP and GAMBIT. However I never used CFX or FLUENT. Could you adise me which one is more capable in combustion. Also did you mean that FLUENT will look like CFX in the nearby? Please clarify. Thanks, John

I no almost nothing about combustion, but as far as I know Fluent as well as CFX belong to Ansys. CFX already has similar GUI as Ansys. Fluent should get new interface, maybe, it will be fully implemented to CFX and you can choose which solver, model you want (CFX, Fluent) Somebody says that CFX has more stable schemes, easier to converge compared to Fluent. However, the results do not have to be realistic. On the other hand, Fluent is more difficult to converge with increasing complexity, but give more precise results. That is all I know
