meshing jet case

I'm having trouble meshing a jet case that I'm working on. The problem is that I need to include a really large area around the jet (relative to the jet/nozzle size)- about 20D by 50-100 D. I was able to get a good mesh for one nozzle, but now I am usign several nozzles, which exacerbates the problem because I need to mesh the space between the nozzles and because the jet formed by the nozzles is larger. I need to have a fine mesh in the nozzles, a finer mesh in between, and a coarse mesh far away from the jet.

To make a long story short, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a way to mesh a case where both large and small geometries are present? The mesh needs to be very fine in some areas, but I would like it to be coarse in other ares to prevent the case from being too large. I am having trouble doing this using a structured mesh in Gambit.

Re: meshing jet case

Hi

Have you tried using Size Function? It works very well with such complex geomentries.

Also, you should consider sub-dividing the domain into smaller zones in order to have better control over the meshing procedure.
