what is the importance of setting a certain time-step when i am modelling. Does the number of time step means the number of iteratins. and how is the max. iterations per time step relate to the number of time-step

not the right reaction, Please help,if you understand how time-step works, and what is the importance of setting a certain time-step when modelling. Does the number of time step means the number of iteratins. and how is the max. iterations per time step relate to the number of time-step

Hi

Time step comes into picture when u r solving an unsteady problem. In steady case ur time derivate term will become zero so what is left is that u solve the equations untill u get the desired convergence. so the number of steps in getting the desired convergence is ur number of iterations. but in the case of unsteady case we seek a steady state solution so we see that the time derivative becomes zero. but essentially it means that it is the number of iterations in the steady state solution only thing is u march in time in unsteady case and u sweep in space in steady case.

hope u will understand this
