Help for Adaption required!

I built a very coarse mesh in Gambit and want to refine it with the adaption panel in Fluent now. My Problem is, that fluent marks my desired cells, but the refining is only performed in radial direction and not in axial. So the cells have still a length of several cm's and a height of a few mm's now. How can i solve this problem??

Thanks!

Re: Help for Adaption required!

I have tried adapting meshes in fluent but i never got it to do what i wanted to do.

What i do now is display contours of adaption function after solving and it will show highlighted the areas recommended for further adaption.

Then I save the case and data, copy the original gambit mesh file, rename this copied file, and modify the mesh where adaption is needed (i.e areas of highest gradient)in this new copied file.

Then i solve in fluent and compare the new results with old. I repeat this refining until the difference of the quantity i am seeking does not change by more than 2% (my rule of thumb). Thats when i see that my mesh is converged.

This way of doing things takes a lot longer but I know it does what i want it to do. Dunno if this helps but I hope it can in some way....
