PLEASE, HELP: INTERPOLATION + CLOSED DOMAIN
 
Hi. I'm puzzled with a following question of interpolating the results from one mesh to another: I have some solution (believe it was converged) of flow around a rotating propeller in some closed (no inlets outlets) domain filled with water (incompressible) - laminar. I felt like coarsing the mesh and got to Gambit to built a somewhat rough grid. Next steps: copying the boundary conds through write/read-bc; interpolating pressure+velosity components. What is strange that right after reading the interpolation file velosity components are read as they were on "fine" mesh, but!!! pressure got some additional value at all the points but have preserved the same gradients throughout the domain. This stayed the same also after the new (coarse) solution was fully converged. It changed significantly the axial load on the propeller. The situation didn't change after initializing from zero. The pressures still were different, while velosities were the same. Can somebody help me with this issue? May be the problem is with formulating pressure in no-inlets, outlets domain? Thax a lot.

Did you try making sure that the number of mesh line (or face if 3d) divisions at the outlet of your 1st part matches the mesh line division at the inlet of your 2nd part model.

pressures may be different at the inlet of your 2nd part because you may have put a boundary condition of fixed pressure at the inlet (your pressure boundary condition if nominated will be your pressure value there regardless of pressure at the outlet of your 1st part).. so therefore you could also check the boundary conditions.

Hi, thanx for the advise, but in my case there are no inlets/oulets - thisi is an enclosure. Propeller in the closed room. thnx

there is a fluent userguide tutorial that deals with a problem like yours... Not sure which one it is.. i remember it being a 2d problem
