DPM particle size distribution in Fluent
Can anyone help, I am using Fluent 6.3 to model particle flow in a duct, I have a distribution and have fitted it to a curve using the Rosin-Rammler function in Fluent, I run the model and then check the distribution at the outlet using the sample histogram. But all it shows is an even distribution and not the specified distribution. Are there any thoughts on this please, might I have missed something in the set-up.

this may sound like a dumb question, but have you specified the inputs in the injection setup panel for the rosin-rammler distribution (min max mean spread)?

If all you get is an uniform distribution what is the (uniform) diameter at the outlet? Is is the default Fluent value or something else?

I have put in all the distribution data i.e. min,max,mean and spread, as far as I can see everything is fine.

Instead of having variable percentages of each diameter I get for example if I specified 100 different diameters I get 1% of the total number of particle for each diameter between the specified range.

In Fluent for R-R, you will get an evenly spaced distribution for particle diameters but each particle will represent a different mass fraction of the particle distribution. It is consistent, but not necessarily the best treatment. Check previous entries in this forum for more discussion.
