Defining of a geometry

I read some article in which the geometry is directly imported by an Autocad file. Until now I have defined the computational domain drawing it with Gambit. How is the way in which I can import a geometry with an Autocad File? and How can I define mesh, boundary conditions, continuum type? thank you very much for you attention

I guess Autocad can export the model to a .STP file which in turn can be imported in Gambit for meshing, bcs and continuum. If I'm wrong, please pardon me and correct me.Prasad
