Help needed for airfoil mesh creation using GAMBIT

Hello all,

I need to crate a fine C-Type airfoil mesh with around 80,000 to 100,000 cells using GAMBIT. I created few models but encountered lot of skewed meshes around the airfoil.

Please give me some advice in mesh generation. I am using NREL S809 airfoil.

Advance thanks.

many things can cause such a problem. would you explain more? one of the major things which results in this problem, is how you decompose the domain; or define sub domains.

Hello Doki, thanks for your reply. I'm a new user to Gambit/Fluent and CFD. So I'm facing great difficulty in meshing.

I am analyzing domain effect and grid resolution for 2D S809 airfoil, which is part of my BE final year project.

Currently I crated a model with computational domain - 10 chord lengths around the airfoil. Meshed the upper and lower airfoil surfaces with 300 (successive ratio 1)points each, wake 100 points. Spacing normal to the surface was First length 0.0002333 (calculated using Re=1000,000, Ref Length= 10m and Yplus=1), interval count 65.

I tried splitting the airfoil edges as well as with out splitting. I do understand that I'm making mistakes in defining sub domain, but I don't know how to overcome it. Please give me some advice in splitting the airfoil and meshing the edge.

Sorry for disturbing you.
