Hi!!!

Please, i really need help!!!

I have a volume which has a common edge with a face, being this perpendicular to the volume, and a i want to substract from a cube this volume (easy) and also split the cube also with the face. The message from Gambit, not allowing me to do both things (i can substract or i can split it, but when i tried one after the other it is impossible...) is

system inconsistency processing edge coincidence

What does it mean and how can i do both things??

Please, i'm really desperated, after 3 weeks spent only in this!!!!!

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

I'm not yet clear about your problem But from the error you mentioned I can say that you might have set on the RETAIN tab while splitting the vloume. Check with it. If not then please explain your problem more elaborately.

Regards, Sushil.

Hi Shushil!!

First, thanks for ur consideration answering my question. However, unluckly, this is not the solution. I'll explain again my problem a little bit more clear.

I have a train, or let's say part of it, which consists on an unique volume; and i have also the cover of the bogie (a surface which covers the wheels of the train, being just a rectangle starting on the bottom of the train, perpendicular to it and paralel to the plane defined by the wheels, ok?). Of course, what i want to study is the fluid around the train, so i need to create a volume which is the negative of the train (i mean, substract to a big cube the train in order to have the volume of the cube without those corresponding to the train and the cover) is it clear up to now?

so the idea is to substract from the cube a volume (the train), and also to split the cube with the cover. The problem is that i can do both operations (substract and split), but independently. It is, i can substract or split but when i do one i cannot do the other, so it means that both operations are possible but there is something between the train and the cover that doesnt fit. All the edges of the cover and the train which could be common are connected, so i cannot understand the message of Gambit...

"system inconsistency processing edge coincidence"

What does it mean?? Which is the problem?? how can i do both operations!!!!

Thanks and please, i really need help!

Hi Lottar,

I am sorry, but i really can not imagin what you wanted to do actually. If you can split the volume then why to subtract it again..? once you split the volume just delet the unwanted part (the train). you need not to subtract it from the main volume. you are done..!

If it dosen't work then could you please send me some screen shots explaining your problem. I could help then. My mail ID sushilkumar.sonar@gmail.com

Wish you a great luck.

Regards, Sushil

Hi Shushil!!

Ok. The train is smaller than the cube, so it is inside the cube and i want to substract the train from the big cube. This is clear, no? and the matter of split is because the cover of the wheels is also inside the cube, so it doesnt divide the cube in two, but just create a cut inside the cube, reproducing the same surface shape in it, do u understand? I'll send u the pictures to ur mail

thanks!!!

Hi Lottar,

Can't you simplify the geometry, by making the train and the wheel cover as one volume..? I can't understand why those are separate..? it should not be I think.!

Hi Sushil,

thanks for all the attention you took for my problem, but it is already solved. I managed it after hours and hours playing with the edges and faces...Dont worry anymore, and again, thanks a lot!
