Default Wind turbine simulation with dynamic mesh.

Hi there,

I am trying to simulate the wind turbine, and I want to do it using a moving mesh simulation. I am bit confused about the boundary conditions to be used for it. I have tried with velocity inlet and pressure outlet. I had some inputs that I can use the 'Pressure-farfield' boundary for the domain. But I haven't used it before. Can someone help me regarding this problem. How can I validate the results, which parameters I can compare..? Please help. Thanks in advance!

regards, Sushil

Hi,

It seems less reponses is posted on this site so I want to help even I havent came across a typical type of work before. Its just for your own benefit and to speed your reach to making decision about the case understudy.

May I suugest that you use a single rotating reference frame which will simplify your model as well as reduces the computational resources requirement.

For the boundary conditions that you have mentioned, I do support your choice if the velocity is known at that boundary. Regarding the farfield boundary, that is a choice if the flow can be considered as compressible at that boundary.

For validation, you can best use direct comparison againest an experimental data if it is available or wait for another post from a person who have dealt with this work from before to give you the best advice. The comparison can be for the output, ie the power generated.

Hi Surabhi,

It's good to know that someone else is with me..! But I could not understand what you mean by 'solid Modelling' Could you please explain..? So that I may have something to tell you.!

Regards, Sushil.
