CAD and CFD

Hi!!!

Since i'm very pleased of the answers here at the forum, i'd like to ask you some questions...I'm working with Gambit importing an Autocad file, but there are a lot of problems, as always, when you export from CAD to CFD.

- Do u know which is the best software to work in CAD and then export to CFD? Autocad or Mechanical Desktop??? - Is there any best type of file (the extension i mean, stp, igs...) to work later on Gambit from the CAD softwares??

Thanks in advance, waiting for news!!

Re: CAD and CFD

I'm using Pro-E, importing .sat to Gambit and export .msh to Fluent and Ansys, so far not facing any problem.

Re: CAD and CFD

it depends to the geometry you are using. for many cases a .sat (ACIS) format is a good choice. otherwise, IGeS is another good extension to deal with. there is no one general rule for all geometries.
