How to set the parallel system to run the FLUENT analysis???

Hi Jane,

Parallel run for fluent can be set on a single machine if you have multicore processer like Dual core or quad core...

For this a simple command @ Command shell prompt can work

EX. >fluent 3ddp -t3/-t4 will start three processor or four pr. run on single machine.

Next if you want run the analysis on different machines you need to install a Message passing interface utility which is available @ fluent website and even you can get the procedure for setup. You would certainly need a good LAN setup for this type of Parallel run.

may i know where can i get the procedure for setup on single machine???

for the analysis on different machines, why i could not find the procedure for setup. is't need to log in to the website??

the command in my previous reply i.e. in cmd prompt you can type >fluent 3ddp -t? this -t2-3-4 stands for the no. of processors you want to run on a single machine you type this command and enter you will get a parallel run of following no. prssr. fluent run.

I always find writing comands in the comand prompt quite dauting. The easiest way to launch parallel processing is to use the FLUENT Launcher. You can access this launcher by going to C:\Fluent.Inc\fluent6.3.26\launcher folder (obviously this will differ depending on your version of FLUENT and the installation folder). Within that folder you will find an executable called launcher.exe. It will open up a window asking about how many processors you want to use, your working directory, your FLUENT version, and your MPI algorithm you want to use. Please ensure that you have modified the environment variables accordingly before starting the launcher. To modify the environment variables, goto StartMenu\Programs\Fluent Inc Products\Fluent 6.3.26\set environments. The launcher can be used to specify both local parallel or network parallel runs.
