I want to use FLUNT to simulate the progress of a granule falling down from water. But i have no idea how to set the model, can you give me a help? Should i use the moving mesh? If the granule is a porous one,how to set the profile of it in FLUENT?

Thank you.

I think you don't have to use moving mesh. you should use Discrete phase model (DPM) and let your granule enter from the top.

Thanks for your answer, but i have some question. The granule is not a small particle,it's diameter is about 2 mm and it is a porous one,so if i use the DPM,how to set my granule?

The "Solving a 2D Box Falling into Water" tutorial might help.

Go to http://www.fluentusers.com/fluent/tr...ials/index.htm (need no subscribe) and scroll down to this tutorial.

I must say I myself am stuck with application of the dynamic mesh in a similar (but somewhat more complicated) problem of few solids sinking and floating in a fluid. Support from the local agent and Fluent support is delayed for a long time, so I really can't say for sure how good the dynamic mesh is (but can say for sure their support level is lousy). However, since you need to model a single solid - you may be more successful than me...
