Default wall turbulence-granular model

Hello all, I am simulating solid-gas separation in cyclones using the granular model. I am running the dust-laden simulations starting with results obtained for a pure gas flow. when adding the secondary phase the y* for the standard wall function I am using reaches values >20000. Can anyone tell me what would be the cause and what are the effects of such values of y* on the flow field (pressure expecially)? Best regards
