Importing in Gambit

Hey,

I'm trying to import a couple of meshes into an existing mesh and Gambit automatically seems to generate non-real geometries - the imported faces are all called f_facexxx (what does f_ stand for?) As the convert-virtual-to-real option doesn't seem to work for the faces (Gambit always crashes), I was wondering whether anyone has had a similar problem?

I've tried exporting/importing various formats, e.g. .msh and .neu, but the problem persists.

Do you know how to export and then import meshes, so that they don't change and in particular to generate non-real geometries?

Any advice would be much appreciated,

CC

The geomtry you will see in gambit after importing the mesh is not real. more over the geometry details are also missing in that file. Regards

Thanks!

But what's there to do? As I need to modify the edges/faces, the geometries need to be real...

Any advice?

Many thanks,

Re: Importing in Gambit

that can be done in two ways:

First method: make the edges real and then make the new faces and volume.

2nd method: make the vertex on edges and then makes edges from then vertices and then continue with steps as in first method

Hope this helps

Thanks!

But that sort of defeats the point to generate the faces and so on in the first place, if you need to re-make them...

Anyway, many thanks...
