Wall Material

Hello,

I am working on the non-premixed combustion problem. I need to define a material for the combustion chamber wall and its other properties like thermal conductivity, density, etc.

When I go to Define> Boundary Conditions and set the boundary condition for the wall, the material there already mentioned (by default) is Aluminum. How do it change it to some other material? I am not able to do that.

Also I want to know when I go to Define > Material option, and select a material... what material is this for? is this for the wall material or the fluid inside the chamber?

Please let me know how do I define the material for the combustion chamber wall?

Thank you so much.

Re: Wall Material

Hi Maple, Go to Define\Materials Here, click on the 'Fluent Database'. Choose 'Solid' from the drop-down list on the right. Than on the left choose the appropriate material. Click on it, then click 'Copy' in the bottom of the panel. After this, you will see you material in the drop down list when you want to set the wall material. In the Materials panel you will see all the materials, you have in your system. In the drop down list you can Choose Fluid, Solid, Inert-particle... (but you have to activate some model for the last one...) I hope I could help you.

Hi Laci,

Thank you very much for the reply.

I tried to do what you told me, but the solid material (SiC) I want to select is not in the Fluent Database list. What should I do now?

Thank you.

Transient Heat Transfer Analysis

Hello,

I want to analyse Time dependent Heat Flow Analysis.

The problem has multiple time step with different heat input value.

Can anybody suggest how to do that using Fluent.

What kind of BC can be used and what precaution to be taken care in order to ensure correct output.

Thanks

Bharat
