Sir,
Please let me know the significance of Y+ value. How is it calculated. Does fluent account for y+ value in its computations? How to include y+ value in the computations using fluent. Regards |

Dear frnd,
Y+ is related to resolution of boundary layer. it is computed as Y+ = (y*ut)/ny, ut is friction velocity y is distance from the nearest wall ny is kinematic viscosity of fluid Basically u require more no of grid points near the wall to resolve the viscous part of the flow for computing wall fluxes. (Heat transfer, skin friction etc. ) value is dependent on reynolds no. and turbulence model to be used. large no. of grid points to resolve the boundary layer near the wall will be computatinally expansive for larger problems so for this purpose wall function is used, which assumes the theoritical profile bw the wall and first grid point. this reduces the no. of computational cells near the wall. hope it will be useful c u |
