I too have this problem, when I try open the file (Fluent_install) don't open nothing... I want to know, how I open the file (Fluent_install) on linux openSuse 10.3 and install the Softwate Fluent. Is this compatible with Linux openSuse 10.3? What other version of the Linux is compatible with Fluent?

I used the Fluent 12.0.7 and 6.3.26

(Sorry for my English)

Hi to all,

You must run fluent install script in a terminal

sh Fluent-install-script

If you want to install it on /opt or similar directory you need root permissions.

After install, probably you need to install some packages to run fluent or gambit.

If I am not wrong they should be libmotif3 and some libstdc++ libraries.

I installed it under SUSE 10.1 two years ago, and now it is running under perfectly under Debian ETCH.

Hello to all,

I installed fluent and gambit on a amd opteron machines (64 bit) under open suse 10.1 and debian etch.

Some weeks ago i have performed the installation in a intel core2duo machine (ubuntu 8.10 amd64). I think that debian is better due to the lack of suferfluous packages that ubuntu family distributions install on your systems.

If I am not wrong installing libstdc++5 and libmotif3 packages both programs work fine.

Please copy and paste your starting errors and look for on google. Usually after some attmeps you get them running.

Regards

Hi Irineupetri,

To launch the codes you need to open a terminal and look for your Fluent installation path.
In the installation process, the script tells you where you want to intall fluent programs.
Once you are in Fluent.Inc/bin directour, simply write down ./fluent (dot/fluent). Thats all.

Regards

When I try run the Fluent show this:
"On Fluent 12.0.7"
linux@linux-qneq:~/ansys_inc/v120> ./fluent
bash: ./fluent: is a directory
"On Fluent 6.3.26"
/home/linux/Fluent.Inc/fluent6.3.26/bin/fluent -r6.3.26
Error: directory /home/linux/Fluent.Inc/fluent6.3.26 does not contain a valid arch.
Set the environment variable FLUENT_ARCH and try again.

but, this file isn't a directory
Why I don't achieve run the fluent in my machine?

irineupetri- you must to look about your problem. but in my experience, i have the same error message, and i clear up it adding in the .bashrc this lines:

FLUENT_ARCH=lnx86:$FLUENT_ARCH
export FLUENT_ARCH

but this solution is because i was runing in a amd sempron machine. i think you must add something like:

FLUENT_ARCH=lnia64:$FLUENT_ARCH
export FLUENT_ARCH

you can trying to launch fluent in a terminal prompt:
---:~$FLUENT_ARCH=lnia64 fluent

good luck
