Fluent Boundary Condition for Opening
 
Hello,

I'm working with fluent 12.0.16 (integrated in ANSYS 12.0). The problem is: I have a face which exists on the Connection between two volume bodies. This face becomes a "wall" automatically. I would like to change this BC into an opening, something that is no blocker for the fluid flow. "Outflow", "pressure outlet" or anything else cannot give me the right behavior.
Is there a BC in Fluent, that somehow removes a face, so it acts like an Opening between two interiors?

There is no BC called "interior". There are: axis, outflow, mass flow inlet, pressure far field, pressure inlet, pressure outlet, symmetrie, velocity inlet, wall, inlet vent, intake fan, outlet vent and exhaust fan.

Well it must be that. I used Gambit before, but I have problems when connecting to the license server for Gambit. So I'm using ANSYS 12.0 WB MESHING or CFX-MESH now. In those progs, you have no direct access to the mesh. Or, may be, I just can't figure out how.

hmm, I can chosse interior for interior bodies, but not for the outer faces of a body. I have to find a way to remove those I guess.

Which name is given to this wall-BC?
If you have generated your mesh with Gambit, the surface between 2 CONNECTED volumes shoud be set as interior (and not visible as BC).
Now if you see this surface in the BC, it means:
1- you have choosed this surface as BC (wall)
2- the volumes are not connected, but you should have 2 superposed surface, and consequently 2 wall-BC
So I would check if your volumes are connected, and/or if the surface isn't set a BC.

Hi, I have this exact same problem.
I think my 2 solid are not connected, so I have 2 wall conditions, one for each volume.
I generated the model with Gambit, can I solve it from Fluent?

Have a look to the command mesh/fuse... it could help you :
The Fuse Face Zones dialog box allows you to fuse boundaries (i.e., remove duplicate nodes and faces and delete artificial internal boundaries) created by assembling multiple mesh regions.
