Problem with iterations in Fluent

1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,

I am having an issue with iterating my solution in Fluent. I am currently running a subsonic impingement case. I am using the density based axisymmetric solver with all boundary conditions defined. The jet is impinged on a flat plate (bottom boundary). There is also a wall around the jet exit (upper boundary). The left boundary is the axis and the right boundary is a pressure outlet. Air is used as an ideal gas with the use of the standard k-e model for turbulent flow.

The issue I am having is when I start to iterate the solution, fluent gives me the following:
Error: Floating point error: invalid number
Error Object: ()

I have attached the case file with this post so you can open it and view all my initial/boundary conditions. I have double checked all my values and I am sure they are absolutely correct. I would appreciate any help on this.

Thank you,
Iaroslav

Did anyone get a chance to look at this? Are my boundary conditions incorrect? For some reason, I am able to run the simulation in 2D instead of axisymmetric, but my results are inaccurate.

Thanks,
Iaroslav

hi,

floating point error will be something to do with your boundary conditions usually, unless u have a UDF attached, which u dont. Im assuming you are aware that for axisymmetric problems in FLUENT the axis of symmetry MUST be the y axis (I THINK!, please check this in the manual), i.e. you cant just place an axis of symmetry along any coordinate direction you want...the fact that your simulation works using a 2D solver means that you have defined that boundary incorrectly.

Hi AK,

Thanks so much for your help. It turns out that I can to rotate my domain by 90 degrees so the x-axis is my axis.
