# inlet velocity BC

 July 16, 2009, 23:53 inlet velocity BC #1 New Member   ahsan ikram Join Date: Jul 2009 Posts: 13 Rep Power: 8 hi i am modeling 2d fluidization for which i have to specify the inlet velocity . I know the volumetric flow rate of air and the cross-sectional area of the pipe at the inlet. plz guide me that for 2d problem how i calculate inlet velocity at inlet edge at which i have to specify inlet velocity BC.

 July 22, 2009, 04:17 #4 New Member   ahsan ikram Join Date: Jul 2009 Posts: 13 Rep Power: 8 hi john thanks for reply. actually, during work in 2D, when i specify inlet velocity boundary condition, i specify hydraulic diameter (which is used for tublence specification) which is double of acual dia of pipe. now problemis that how i define the cross-sectional area at inlet. will it be based upon hydraulic diameter or actual diameter.
