Hi,

I'm a structural engineering student and I have the following problem: I modelled a cylindrical tank with two impellers that rotate at 19 rpm with a k-epsilon turbulence model in Fluent. The flow generates a pressure on the cylinder wall and baffles; that's what I'm interested in. Fluent gives me various pressure values: static pressure, dynamic pressure, total pressure, absolute pressure and relative absolute pressure. Which of this values represents the total loading on the cylinder wall and baffles? I mean, if I structural engineer wanted to design the cylinder wall, which of these values should he use? I couldn't figure it out.

Also, I thought static + dynamic pressure = total pressure. However, looking at the results they don't sum up. Why could that be?

Finally, I'm a little confused about what static pressure really means.

I would appreciatte greatly any help!

Thank you!
