Reaction Mechanism
 
I am modeling a combustion reaction of pure oxygen and methane; how do I prescribe the reaction mechanism (i.e. one step/two step)?

CH4 + 1.5O2 --> CO + 2H2O
CO + .5O2 --> CO2

Search some papers, you may find the chemical reaction mechanism.

Hi Jiuan, thank you for your reply. I have another question for you if you don't mind...

I'm using the Non-Premixed Combustion model, I created a PDF Table because it demands it (do I always have to do this when using this model?). Also, I am getting combustion in my simulation without any sort of igniter, is this because the model uses the reaction scheme of "mixed-is-burned" approximation? I am trying to get clarification on this matter...

Also, I thought if it used the "mixed-is-burned" approach, it wasn't possible to get intermediate species, but I definitely have intermediate species in my results, not just the final products.

Lastly, I select "Equilibrium" within my Non-Premixed Combustion model ... does this still use the PDF/"mixed-is-burned" reaction scheme? I've looked at the Fluent documentation and am confused about which reaction scheme I am actually using.

I appreciate any light you are able to shed on these queries.

Actually I have no experience on combustion simulation. :mad:. I did some simulation for chemical reaction in low temperature, which is not combustion. So I am sorry I cannot help you on this problem. When I have problems, I usually look inot the Fluent documents, such as user's guide, theory guide and tutorials.
