Hi. I was wondering if someone could help me with the problems I've been having modeling an open air flame (pool fire).

I've been using the k-e model with eddy dissipation for the model. I modelled everything in steady state with gravity off and switched to a transient solution with gravity and radiation turned on. The solution, however, does not change from the steady state if I put a time scale of .001 seconds. If I put a larger time scale, the solution will change, but will not converge in each time step.

Also, what's the best approach to model the flame. A cold flow first? I've taken this approach but havn't gotten good results.

If you find the longer time scale, when the solution still converge, you shouldn't increase it anymore.
